Yes, I know.
I have been shamefully neglecting my lil blog. I knew I would have to force myself to stay on top of it and seriously, trying to blog from my cell phone made it too much of a challenge. I am now the proud owner of a new laptop however so it's time to get back on track.
To get this ball rolling again I'll jump in with my current project. I recently bought this lovely vintage lady:
My first step was to trace the original pattern which I've done and now it's time to move onto alterations. I've decided to shorten the overall length so that the dress will fall right below my knee instead of mid-calf. After measuring the pattern pieces I've also realized that even though the pattern is actually my size (I know right?!) it has quite a bit more ease than I need so I'm going to have to take it in anyways.
After digging through my stash of fabric I've decided on this awesome check fabric:
However, I think it would be too busy to use it all-over so I've decided to do the yoke black. This means altering the back piece since it's originally only 2 pieces with a center seam and giving it a yoke. I haven't decided yet if I want to use the black on the contrast of the skirt or not yet...
I'll be sure to update here when I've made more progress!
